Command Your Business

So, the joke in the intel world used to be that the best intel officer isn’t he who knows the most, but he who steals the most. So, I gotta give credit where credit is due and admit that I came across today’s entrepreneurial resource thanks to those great guys over at Veteran Empire. If you haven’t checked them out, you really need to. (After you finish reading this blog post, of course!)

Command Your Business was created by former Army officer Scott Fussell. Fussell, who after his military service has gone on to work for several Fortune 500 companies, believes the military imbues veterans with the skills needed to succeed in business. He’s established Command Your Business to help convey that information to other veterans in, or aspiring to join, the business world.

In addition to passing along his own advice, Fussell uses the Command Your Business website as a platform to promote other “vetrepreneurs.” Through a series of podcasts, you’ll get to hear from military veterans who are succeeding in business, either by starting their own companies or leading existing companies, and how they are applying the lessons they learned in the military to their new lives as successful business men and women. A few of the 30 veteran entrepreneurs featured so far include those heading organizations I’ve featured here on this blog, including Rallypoint founder Aaron Kletzing, co-founder of Team Rubicon and POS REP Jake Wood, author of Soldier of Finance Jeff Rose, and Tim “Lawdawg” Lawson of Veteran Empire.

Whether it’s a short video on how to use an Excel function, a post using Van Halen to illustrate why “Attention to Detail” matters just as much in the business world as it does in the military, or hearing the likes of Kelly Perdew, West Point grad and former Ranger, talk about how his military experience helped him win Season 2 of The Apprentice, you’re going to learn something you can use to start or grow your own business endeavor.

When you check out the website, don’t forget to sign up for the Command your Business newsletters (so you can get notified when the online training program launches). You can also find Command Your Business on Facebook and Twitter.
