My name is Sarah Maples. I'm a former Air Force Intelligence officer and Afghanistan veteran. I've also been an Army wife, a veterans representative/VA School Certifying Official at a local college, and a VA employee. I now work on policy issues impacting service members, veterans, and their families. I also write, and have been published in Task & Purpose, Line of Advance, and Rally Point.
After the DD-214 was inspired by my veteran students and is designed to help connect vets with resources and opportunities. I to post once a week - sometimes more, sometimes a lot less, as I also work full time and am laboring on a novel. Posts are generally a short, detailed look at a single resource, opportunity, or topic. Occasionally, I will also do a "Front and Center" Interview with a veteran or veteran's advocate or a book review of a book written by and/or for veterans. You can find up-to-the-minute information on other opportunities on the After the DD-214 Facebook page or by following After the DD-214 on Twitter.
If there is anything else you'd like to see on After the DD-214, let me know. I'm always open to suggestions.
Disclaimer - I'm not a lawyer, but I'm guessing this needs to say something along the lines of: After the DD-214 is designed to make you aware of veteran-related resources and opportunities. Much as I try, I am not an expert on all things vet-related. The blog and I are not responsible for the actions of any resource featured on the blog, nor is the research I do a substitute for doing your own research.
